Find Out More About Your New Transit System

Welcome to the New Suffolk County Transit!

We are excited to bring our riders more reliable and frequent service as part of our system-wide redesign. As of October 29th, 2023, the Suffolk County Transit system has been redesigned to be more convenient for riders like you. To get started riding the new Suffolk County Transit, follow these simple steps:

The first step to familiarizing yourself with the new Suffolk County Transit system is to see it! Check out the new county-wide system map of Suffolk County Transit, both as an interactive map, as well as a PDF static map. The new system will get you where you need to go more reliably and faster, with an increase in the number of routes that arrive at stops every 30 minutes and for longer portions of the day, with operating hours now extending to 10 pm on weekdays, 9 pm on Saturdays and 8 pm on Sundays. The entire Suffolk County Transit system will also now run every single day of the year, including holidays.

As part of the system’s redesign, Suffolk County Transit has worked to create routes that work for the most number of riders and Suffolk County residents as possible and get them to the destinations that are central to living, working and playing across the county. New routes and schedules are now live! Be sure to refer to these routes and schedules to be confident navigating the system.

A new feature of Suffolk County Transit routes are “timed transfer” points, which are key stops where buses on a variety of routes are scheduled to arrive at the same time, thereby making transfers more convenient. Seven "timed transfer" points are included in the new Suffolk County Transit, including Amityville Long Island Rail Road, Bay Shore (Mechanicsville Road and Park Avenue), Brentwood Long Island Rail Road, Central Islip Long Island Rail Road, Smith Haven Mall, Patchogue Long Island Rail Road and Riverhead Long Island Rail Road.
